taken in february of 2005, a favorite abstract of mine
(no "manipulation", just converted to grayscale and adjusted contrast a little)

Not exactly sure what I'm looking at. It's an interesting abstract, but the huge watermark really destroys it.
PS: Grayscale conversion and contrast tweaking count as manipulation

thanks for checking it out! i hear you about the watermark but it's just one of those things given how the world is and how i am- i would post a large image for the sake of art and then find it a year later being used as a screensaver or worse a product- or not
as for manipulation the color digital slr version of this is very similar so in this case there is very little difference- and i put that in the description to make a point about digital- converting to grayscale and adjusting contrast "normally" is not really manipulating the original image and making it something it's not- i say that in regards to the specific works i do and how i classify it- there are a lot of images i do love to truly manipulate (which can be done in the darkroom or with photoshop) this just isn't really one of them and it's good that you don't know what it is coz that's my goal- people who have seen this as a 20 by 30 print tend to get distracted by being consumed by what it is of but it's meant to be abstract cheers! rick |
