To me it looks perfect. How can you be so sure the shadow is the focal point, you're probably just agreeing with him. I think It must have been a perfect shot and the lamp seemed somewhat isolated and pretty standing alone, with the perfect amount of sunlight that made you take the picture.

The way the sun hits the lamp made me, my face, have a droopy look: like, ah! that was my reaction.
the lamp kind of reminds me of a person. Alone and the way the sunlight hit it made me feel sad. I love what nature does to things, as if it's trying to send a message somehow by it's own natural powers.
