Deviantart is a joke. its become too commercial, too mainstream. when you go mainstream, when you become popular, you are no longer "Deviant". its a contradiction of itself.
with the 10 million or so users on there, how much do you really get recognized? people flock to the popular artists, the popular genres of art only, and more and more non-artists are finding it easy to submit something and call themselves an "artist". its the in-thing these days. its the latest fad, the latest trend, and its all an irony and hypocrisy. if being "deviant" is the popular thing, then what is deviant anymore? Hehe, the main problem with the deviantart model is the fact that the founders are no longer in control of the site. it's now a fully commercial entity and as such probably no longer a proper community.

Quote pretty much, yeah. this is why i came to ArtWorld in the first place. i also like the 1-submission-per-48-hours limit. it ensures that every submission can get a chance to get properly viewed by the community. at "deviant"art your art is just lost among the deluge of other shit that people post every second.
