I would say Paul Revere. He was a silver smith and engraved

I know the Dalziel brothers were engravers. If not the first engravers, they were certainly well-known engravers of their time in the mid to late 1800's. Two of the brothers were Edward and George Dalziel.

Martin Schongauer was the first great engraver who is known to have been a painter rather than a goldsmith.
