Probably the Mona Lisa.
Most of the paintings in there are priceless, so I went with the most well-known. |

Mona Lisa. At least it is the most heavily guarded. And behind bullet-proof glass. And there are like 500 people constantly surging around it, snapping pictures even though that's forbidden, so the glass probably offers some UV and light protection too.

It is the Mona Lisa (La Gioconda) which can't be offered for auction as it is owned by the French government. But it has the highest insurance value for a painting in history, $100 million on December 14, 1962, (before the painting toured the U.S. for several months). Taking inflation into the account it was valued at approximately $670 million in 2006

Does it matter what any painting is worth in cash. The artist never saw any of it

Mona Lisa.
"Mona Lisa is owned by the French government and hangs in the Musée du Louvre in Paris so it couldn’t be offer in auction. But it has the highest insurance value for a painting in history, $100 million on December 14, 1962, before the painting toured the U.S. for several months. Taking inflation into the account it would be approximately $670 million in 2006!" |
