I don't know if I am in the right category but I was wondering what is the best place to host your website at. E.g. namecheap.com godaddy.com, and etc.

Thanks,
Brendah

I preffer godaddy.com personally, but I have a reseller account (which is a wholesale account maker where I can make unlimited domains for a cheap price and sell them to people on eBay to make a few extra bucks, sometimes I can stumble upon a good name too and make alot more!)

I had problems with godaddy personally, it is a very difficult site to navigate as far as your account goes, it is not my best selection, I would choose something a little better.

I have moved hosts several times in the last few months because of poor security and backup policy. I have now settled with www.hostgator.com as I have a number of websites which they host on a reseller package.

If you do a google search, you can also get some hostgator vouchers which effectively mean that your first month is free.

Indeed, hostgator is very agressively marketed. Artworld currenly resides on Dreamhost, the tenth biggest host on the planet (they have around 360,000 domains there). So far everything is very nice, they seem to have much better load balancing than the previous hosts which couldnt have handled us anymore

I have a reseller account with HeartInternet.com who are able to offer me unlimited bandwidth and unlimted disk space (apparently). Some of the features that other hosts have are disabled though. Another good host is Lunar pages.

I use Namesco for my hosting service and bought my domain name through them. The whole service has been very good for the near 3 years my website has been online. I know I could probably buy a cheaper package from another host but I value reliablity and help, which they have provided all the way through.

Hostgator.com for me. They are the best hosting company in my opinion. I never had problems with anything. Their support is tremendous. When I had to change the MX records of my e-mail, they were able to do it fastly. Best of all, I only spend 1 cent during my first month. So, if you want to try, just shell out 1c.

I've hard Hostgator is overselling a lot of the features. Is this true? Does anyone have a high traffic site with hostgator?

When I bought my hosting plan, they are selling 5G for $9.95. Now, you can get 100G for $9.95. That is just insane. I never had problems with them though. Their support is great.

I don't have a high traffic site so I can't say. I think I only have 3000 unique visitors per month.

I just registered a domain with Dreamhost and hoping to later build a web site through them. I have heard/read nothing but good about them.

I'm thinking of transferring to another webhosting company. Is Dreamhost good? I checked their site and the prices are reasonable. I heard bad reviews from other people so I am kind of hesitant.

I know quite a few people who own their own business and run them out of. They just love Dreamhost. You are always going to get complaints when dealing with businesses, but you have to weed through them. If there is more good then bad...look at that...vice versa. I have in the past had an account with 1and1.com and actually liked them very much. I just decided to go a different route. 1and1.com also has excellent rates. Good luck with your search Farrah.

there are many out there. the key is to find the one that has what you need. godaddy is my choice because you can manage your site as well as setup email with your domain. also you can change hosting plans as you see fit and can register additional domains. You have the ability to upload using a variety of methods.
