9. CHROMA PROBLEM #3: USING COMPLEMETARY PAIR TO CREATE DULLER VARIATIONS
Box #1: Paint in ONE of the colors belonging to a complementary pair. Box #5: Paint in the other color belonging to the same complementary pair. Box #3: Mix #1 and #5 until you get a true neutral result (brownish-greyish color). Save extra! Boxes 2 and 4: show equal steps in-between |

Pick a pair of complementary colors. For example: blue and orange.
Box 1: Paint in the pure blue Box 5: Paint in the pure orange Box 3 Paint with equal parts blue and orange mixed (You'll get a greyish color) Box 2: Paint with blue and orange mixed, but use a little more blue. Like 2 parts blue, 1 part orange. (You'll get a blue-ish grey) Box 4: Paint with blue and orange mixed, but use slightly more orange: 2 parts orange, 1 part blue. (You'll get an orange-ish grey) Hope this helps! |
