Hope this is the right section to talk about hardware but couldnt find anywhere to ask my query so here goes
Managed to get my young fella interested in Photoshop that he even went out today and came homw with a Wacom tablet. Just to annoy his Dad mostly i'm thinking as he knew that ive an order in with Santa if not earlier for one myself. Anyhows when he does come home with it, it was a Wacom 3 tablet??.. Downloaded the driver for it and whatever and spent four hours of frustration trying to get the thing to run right and not either run away or lag with whatever he was trying to do??. I even had a go at it but after a twelve hour nightshift i'm afraid i was'nt patient enough for it Now!!! the question is ??, is there anything special one has to set up with them or whatever apart from the instructions that come with the tablet!!??... Any posts from past discussions with these tools just so i can prepare myself for mine or is there a possibillty he bought a lemon??.. Cheers Volvo |

Well, theres nothing wrong with buying a lemon.... Nothing at all.
Anyway, What OS and version of Pgotoshop are you trying to get it working with? Theoretically, at least, it should only be a case of installing drivers, plug in and go. Some members here do have Wacom tablets, so I'll let them provide any further help. |

I'm not sure there should be anything wrong with the wacom, perhaps you should check if your pc specs are up to date with the rest of the drivers, the thing should actually run fine even without drivers ... but in this case it would run in absolute mode like a mouse.
And ... I'm guessing he came home with a GRAPHIRE 3? I'd suggest an Intuos myself, no matter what anyone says, Intuos beats every other table quality wise. Great pen, handy keys, very good power (i'm comparing it to the other wacoms that I used - the intuos can go up to about 2,5 cm from the table without "dying") |

When I somehow come up with a source of money, I'm going to buy a Wacom tablet.
It's one of my upmost items on my list of things-that-I-really-don't-in-any-way-need-but-would-be-cool-to-have. Along with a guitar, singing saw and theremin. |

Hmm - does he still have the receipt? I bought a Graphire 4 Studio recently and it was very easy to install. It's always best to check the specification of computer required. Now if only I could work the tablet...
