I have a black nylon makeup cape that I want to spray paint a stencil onto. The first color is red. So when I first tried spraying it, it took a lot of paint to make it appear. The paint kept beading up. I think I sprayed to thick right from the beginning. Then I put 2 more layers of color on top of that. Now that it has dried, it's starting to peel off. Is there anyway to spray paint onto nylon? Do I need to put down something for the paint to adhere to? Did I put too much paint down at once? That is if I sprayed it in layers, letting it dry in between, would that help the paint to stay on.
Thanks in advance. -Mish

Nylon doesn't like to take paint or dye. What I would suggest is trying paint made specifically for fabric (it can come in spray form as well as bottle). Or, you know what, try Krylon's spray paint that is specially formulated to make a chemical bond with plastics. That might work even better.
