Hey! So I bought silver spray paint a few months ago to do this very elaborate art project, but after I had finished it, I looked at the back of the paint and it said that there was lead in the paint. I'm pretty sure that this is illegal, isn't it? I bought it from a big chain (Michael's) and it kind of surprises me that they carry it. I feel really ripped off because I can't sell my project as I had planned, since I don't want to give anyone lead poisoning. Also, I have all this leftover paint that I can't even use. I lost the receipt, but do you still think a refund is possible? Does anyone know if the paint was illegal to sell? Also, if anyone has any idea whether or not I could use some special sealent so that the paint could not chip and thus not cause any harm to anyone else.

im pretty sure its illegal. you should go talk to the store and see what they have to say. if it is illegal sue them for millions!!!

sorry just checked the web. its only illegal if there is more than a certain amount. im sure whatever was in the paint cant be enough to hurt anyone.

Lead paint isn't toxic. It used to be but only if you were a painter using it for years on end and then only if you were chewing your brushes.

Don't get me wrong, lead is very toxic but to get it from the paint into your system enough to do damage requires some real effort.

The amount in modern paint isn't that high. Don't worry about it. Specially when it has dried there is no danger at all.

Using hairspray is more dangerous.
