Hello all
I'm looking to get a new digital SLR to replace my Nikon D70.
Current contender is the D200, mainly beacuse all my lenses are Nikon and i really love the range.
Any other recommendations in the same(or less) price area, I'm sure Lombi will try to steer me to a Canon :P

Hehe, actually I won't

I'm selling all my canon equipment on tuesday to get a D200 with a 18-200 VR lens.

D200 is a sexy camera. Wish I had the money for it. I'm planning on getting Nikon D50 with the standard 18-55mm objective, actually I'm gonna order it today.

Indeed, but the D50 is also a very nice camera. Tested it when a friend lent it to me.

You have to be careful though since the "AFS" isnt really a silent AFS drive, but rather a motor drive.

Just got the D70s in the end, with a spare D70 body.

Spent the extra money on a macro lens, and a telephoto to be ordered soon,

Why do guys find technology sexy... I mean, it sits there and beeps occasionally...

I realise this is slightly off the topic of Steve's new camera but I couldn't resist asking.

Actually it's my new camera too ... well, not the same model as Steve's but I got a D200.

There might be a technology fetish thing going on but there is also the fact that both cameras take wonderful photographs. Which is the point of owning a camera in the first place.

My D50 arrived today. Quick delivery from Japan Photo Norway, I must say.

Here's a test photo:

If you are thinking about getting the 4/3 system then think again. It's just extremely not worth the money... Plus the quality of the images is far inferior to Nikon or Canon in the same price range.

Lombi: I am interested in knowing why you are giving up your Cannon equipment for the Nikon? What made you decide you wanted the Nikon equipment? I am interested in knowing because I trying to decide which brand to buy and wanted to know that others are choosing and why they are making that choice. is it because of the features offered, is one overall quality better than the other, etc!
