Hey Im getting into Graphic Art and Computer/Traditional Animation and was wondering is this was a good tablet to start out with get the feel of it before I go spending a whole lot of money for something I might not use ever again....The tablet is a Genius PenSketch 9x12 9" x 12" Active Area USB Tablet the link to it is http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16883101106 Thanks for the help

I would suggest you invest a little more and buy yourself a wacom tablet. Their pen technology is different - they do not need batteries in the pen which makes it a lot lighter.
I have two intuos tablets and will never go back

is ADESSO any good? see the thing with them is that they have alot of space for a lower price but if it isnt any good I think ill go get WACOM Graphire4 CTE640B 6" x 8" becuase its close in price and by the looks of it Wacom is the best?

Oh, I didn't realize that tablets are pricey.
I saw several tablets when I went to a computer store earlier. They were selling a dirt cheap tablet. I guess it's around $40 or something. I guess that won't really help me at all. |

The main difference between wacom tablets and the rest is that wacom is using patented technology which does not require the pen to have a battery inside it (it's somehow powering the pen wirelessly).
I could easily say that the cheaper wacom models are just as okay as the 40$ tablets. It's the Intuos tablets that really start to show why it's worth to invest a little (okay, a lot) more into the tablet. The pen quality, tablet quality, responsiveness, it's all amazing

I love my smaller Wacom, although I can see why the larger Intuos would be better. Now I have too go spend more money for a larger one, when I should have just saved up the money and gotten the bigger one to begin with. So basically, I am out that money. I can give my daughter the smaller one. She absolutely loves to draw and would love to be able to do it via the pc.
So I guess in a way, it is still a good investment. I will always recommend Wacom.

Yes i agree with the other posters and think you should just save yourself the hassle and invest in a Wacom tablet since they are the best and also last a very long time if properly maintained.

Kia, you are so right. I have had my small wacom now for about 4 years and it is still running strong. I was looking at the "more" expensive wacoms and have fallen love. Now I am trying to figure out how I get a new one.

I have been looking for a tablet for my son and with the information that I read about the one the main poster of the thread was looking at. I would not buy it. The Wacom appears to be the item of choice here, I will begin looking at this brand and hope that I can find what I am looking for.
Would someone be willing to share with us here more information on Wacom line of tablets, such as the size, quality it provides and whatever else you can give us. Thanks |
