As an event coordinator I have never known anyone exclusively making a wage from face painting. most combined a variety of skills; balloon making, basic clowning, or they are people in the party business who juggle basic party skills supervision of games & rides///

That said if you do something so 'easy' (the public word not mine) be very good at what you do and to be truthful in this modern age the face painters who air brush can commandeer the best wages & gigs and if you get good with air brush you are on your way to making money on films & television for that is how modern make up is applied..

Last bit of advice never under value yourself, ask for at the least $50 for one to two hours and never be pressured to spend less than three minutes doing whatever. Also develope a 'personality' the is up beat & friendly and in 80 % of situatuions non threatening

As for consistent / \ if you get established you should snag in a communitty of seventy-five thousand people at least four to eight gigs a week again at say $50 a gig on average, better during the holidays in fact you learn to ride the holiday cycle, work like heck, get a long break, maybe a scary long time, then a flood.......
PS Have known people who do at least two to four 'bar' gigs twice aweek, either 2 hours a night or as much as six depending upon days worked, and they are good enough to snag five hundred plus tips a week, if you can live in that then that is consistent....
