without ruining the painting? I've just tried mild warm soap and water but nothing. I'm afraid of rubbing off the paint!!! Help !!

Mineral spirit BUT that might ruin the paintings. Careful scraping might work if the crayon is not very deep. Hard rubbing might damage the canvas.

Removing paint from a painting is not easy and 100% safe. If the painting is expensive, better try a professional in restoration. Your painting might requiere some retouching after removing the crayon.

Soap and water doesn't work on crayon because they are mainly wax.
