I have done an extremely untillegent thing. I just ordered a poster online. It appeared to be an average sized poster, however it wasn't until after I ordered it, that I read it was only 11" x 17". I didn't even know posters came that small. I'm not very good with measurements, but that can't be much bigger than a standard piece of paper, can it?
Well I guesse if nothing else, I have learned a valuable lesson... always read the FULL description of an item before purchasing it online. |

Take two pieces of standard letter-sized paper, and lay them with their long sides touching. That's 11 x 17

a standard sheet of printer paper is 8.5 inches by 11 inches. So basically your poster will be two of those. Think of two sheets of printer paper next to each other with no space in between. The "long" 11 inch side will be your "short" side in this case.

You're right, if that is the correct dimensions then it isnt much more than say an A4 piece of paper.

An average sized piece of paper is 8.5" x 11". 11" x 17" isn't too small, all things considered...seems to be standard for commemorative-style posters anymore. (For comparison's sake, a normal sheet of paper is 93.5 sq. inches, and the poster is 187 sq. inches.)

Well, the 11" width would be the same as the length of a standard piece of copier paper. Another way to look at it is that it's 1 inch smaller than a foot, by one inch less than a 1 1/2 feet.

It's about the same size as paper going the long or vertical way. It's twice as big going across.
