i downloaded this wallpaper from ellicit and really want to know if you can do the effect that has been placed on the girl in cs2. cheers.

I think this is more or less done with screening the layer over the background, or perhaps even on linear dodge. Perhaps just by using the red layer?
Try it out and tell us if it worked. |

Yes, I'd been thinking a Screen blend mode and a boost in both brightness (to make it brighter, obviously) and contrast (to try and keep detail in the hair, etc)
Hmm, Alpha Channels... I feel a tutorial coming on :thinkover: |

i've tried out your suggestions a little and definitely getting somewhere near, maybe just have to get the brightness/contrast settings right. using only the red layer definitely helps. i'll keep trying, maybe it needs someone with more experience i've only been doing this a couple of months.
