Everybody heard the story ... the fountain of youth is a well known and somehow still searched recipe for eternal youth of the human race. How do you understand this? What's your interpretation of the fountain of youth?

This is ewr1951's submission:

Quote
Here I am looking through the bushes of my memories, darkening every time, the distance of the best times gone like the wind, and realizing that the Fountain Of Youth, ones in my reach, now it is in the youth generation. It taste different for each person as it is showed in each and every work of art in this competition. Is good to see how much alive is the "Fountain Of Youth", and it will, for ever.

Man this is a lot better of a turn out than the last competition...

I'd say that Bacchus's is the cleanest...

zasul has the coolest looking idea, real sharp like something you would see in a video game almost, but still needs some work to clean up technique...

ewr1951 has probably one of the coolest ideas for it with the children climbing the fountain... it's very well done, but the way the bushes are portrayed throws some sketchiness into it.

novanan didn't follow the rules about the size of the image, but has a very good idea looks pretty cool.

leaf_eater should have had a little more detail into the background and needs to work on the interaction between elements, but it looks good...

Albo said that it was a quick attempt and I believe it, I see some potential... I'd like to see you bring it more up to par and put forth a little more effort.

ling_LA for some reason I can see this one on the television in the background of an eery movie. :

pan_giannakis I see potential, but grunge is way too over used, basic layering and basic brushes... give it some more effort!

Ewiger-Krieg like Lombi said this is a lovely contribution to the competition... I only see one problem with it and that's on the left-bottom corner you didn't erase that part I could definitely see this one in a video game though it looks real nice...

That's my two cents on the competition right now. Keep up the good work guys!

Got a question about file size actually...and this happens to me at work all the time.

When I created my image, I set the file size by 600x450pixels@85 resolution. Then, I worked, I played, and a lovely time was had by all. I flattened the image. Saved the file upon my trusty computer, in fact I optimized it for the web, and then sent it elsewhere. (here, in fact)

Upon its arrival, I find, to my dismay, the file has shifted in size. Often at work it even appears that layers have shifted and edited images have slid to one side or the other.
Why does this happen? HOW does it happen.

I wondered about adding layers...which does increase the size. But I believe that if the image is flattened, it should not take matters into it's own hands and change itself without even asking. I think it should have the courtsey to remain the file sized I very nicely asked of it at the beginning.

Is it a Photoshop ego thing or something more sinister? ^_^

I believe there is additional optimization when uploading images to ArtWorld to save space, but that was a big long rant... :bla:

Novanan, I would sugest using 72 rather than 85, and if you use File > Save For Web and save it as a jpeg, the layers cannot move.

Gasp! That's not a rant! (Note the green happy smilie face.) It's a photoshop question about a repeating problem I encounter. Stuff just moves on me. I'm wordy, my friend, not mad. It's a girl thing, perhaps? (Besides, anger is just junk food for the soul.)

Oh and Hi TraceImage! Cool site, doncha think? I'm SOOOO not the person to ask about loading images correctly. When you find out let me know. wheeee. I like your copper patina image. Wouldn't the inside of the bowl have the same patina or does the magic beach it out?

Weird, I've never encountered something like you have before. What I would suggest is that you don't use the flatten image command but rather always just save for web. This way you will have the PSD file intact and always a very nice output filter.

ArtWorld's gallery will trim your image down to size (700 px is max) but should not do anything with images smaller than that, the forum however doesn't do anything to the images.

Do you have any pictures of the layers moving?
