I painted my boyfriend a picture of his lab cause she had to be put down due to medical reasons. He was really devastated so i decided to paint her and well this is what i came up with. Do you think is any good? do you think he'll like it?
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y3/Prettybabyxoxo8/puppylab.jpg on a scale from 1 to 10 Do you think i should do another one? thank you backmend: how can you compare me to Di Vinci?? that's a little unfair, he's a freaking genius and I'm an amateur, i shouldn't even be in the same category as him. I did this painting in one day, thanks for he unfair critique. |

Oh my gosh. This painting is unbelievable. I'm totally speechless. Of course he will love it!! It's amazing! You're so lucky to have special artistic abilities. Keep on the good work!! I totally think you should do another one!!
And I'm very sorry for your bf about his lab. I know how it feels to let go of a loved one. My pom died 3 weeks ago, due to a coyote bite. ='( Ooh, and definately a 10!!!! |

That is a very good painting, I would give you a 10 definitely. Your boyfriend should like this very much.
I wouldn't do an another picture however, I think there is more feeling in this picture. You would just try to make to many changes in the next picture. |

On a scale of 1-10 with ten being the Mona Lisa. I would give it a 5. It lacks detail. You have captured an interesting look with the puppy. It is in a stage for the detail to be added now. You have a good basic foundation to start with.

I rate it a ten. Considering what it is for and how well you did it. He'll definitely like and trust me I'm sure he'll appreciate it a lot.
Good luck. |

I think you have put a lot of feeling in the painting. The expression is good. The main thing is that you did it out of love. So what if it doesn't look like a photograph, most of what passes for art these days doesn't. He should be proud to hang it on the wall.

Well, It certainly LOOKS like a Lab! There is a real character/brightness/interest in the eyes that you have managed to capture!
Personally, I would say that this is a good painting. But in many ways, only YOU can judge whether it is a piece that is good enough! Could you do better? Or did you surpass your usual skills while producing the piece? If you look at it and think that you can do much better, then this is your answer! If you look at it thinking "Wow, I cannot believe I painted that! It looks just like his dog" then that is your answer. I am a professional artist and I need to look at all my work in an objective manner so that I can price it and market it - in fact, my objectivity begins at the design stage when I decide to make it! Ultimately, you are the only person that can answer your question. This means that you either: 1) Like the project and seek some reassurance on your work as part of making your decision OR 2) HATE the work you have done and think that you can do better in which case, no positive comments from 'lesser' artists will make you feel better about your work. I think that the peice looks good, but I do not know the dog and I do not know your range of ability in capturing its likeness. Only YOU can REALLY answer your questions and I would bet that you already know your answer.....! Sara |

Sophia... I wish you could have painted a picture like that for me when I had to part with my beautiful lab. Your boyfriend will know just how much you care... and will always have that in his heart whenever he looks at it. You could paint 20 more... but this is the one when you felt... what you felt. He will love it... not just because it's so precious... but because it was painted by you. When something comes from the heart... it is always a 10.

Hi Sophia,
The most important thing is that your painting transmits the character of the lab. So that when he looks at, he'll smile remembering how she was. Technically, I think that you have done a fine job. Of course that I've seen better, but I've also seen worst. I'm sure that he'll love it. It's always important to give a honest critique having into account the person's experience. This will help the artist to become better. And it's not only for beginners, it's for every artist. Kind regards, José http://sitekreator.com/hushcolours/index.html |
