Say you just made a brilliant collage out of pictures from magazines or the internet.
Can you get it published or print it in a magazine/newspaper? Or are you not allowed to because the pictures you used are not your own? Or can you do so, but you have to cite every source you got the pictures from? |

Generally, I avoid using copyrighted images in collages I submit to publishers---and generally, reputable magazines and newspapers won't publish collage work without asking you if you have the rights to all the imagery you used to make it.

In order to publish this, you would have to obtain (or purchase) permission to use each and every image because they are all copyrighted.
And no, citing sources and giving credit to the artist/ photographer/ publication/ website is not enough. |
