If the artist is unknown or little known, you won't find much, if anything, on the internet.
Your best bet is to backtrack to where you acquired the painting, and ask there. |

Hi! There are many artists namd Maio (or di Maio) and I don't know what your image looks like... but I found two that seem to have art related to the ballet. I hope this helps:
1960's Vintage Maio Big Eyed Ballerina http://www.smsnoveltiques.com/images/art-maio.jpg http://www.smsnoveltiques.com/artprintsetc.asp Elena Capone of Arcangelo Fine Art in Cecina, Italy, which represents the work of Italian artist Bruno Di Maio, agreed. "There is a timeless quality to the subject matter, and the elegance, glamour and beauty of the dancers appeal to a wide base of collectors.Today's ballet artists tend to be drawn to the subject matter for similar reasons. For Di Maio, who began portraying ballet dancers about 30 years ago, the spell hit after he met a young ballerina at the Scala Di Milano school in Italy's Lake Como. "He just fell in love with the subject and found it all irresistibly fascinating--the movements and colors, the contrast from light to shadow, the incredible elegance of the female form dressed in soft voile and carried away by music or resting between rehearsals. http://www.brunodimaio.it/immagine_ingrandita.aspx?id=O0002http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0HMU/is_9_29/ai_91398260 http://www.brunodimaio.it/ |
