He helped define many art styles. One being Cubism. I suggest doing a google search and reading some general biographies about him. Also go to the art section in your local library, there you will find tons of info about his artwork, and his influence and style in the artword. Its not something you can put into a few sentences, but through your reading you will find what your looking for.

Well cubism. What does any artist contribute? That answer could only be answered by people who think an artist must contribute. His work is different and interesting cause he created so many different types of art, paintings, ceramics, drawings, wood etchings and different types of printing. He also redid some of the paintings by other artists. Luncheon on the grass is one.

Cubism. The theory behind it is that you cannot see the inside of things and is reflected in the writing style of Hemingway and Gertrud Stein, who wrote "without expressing their feelings" (which, of course, is almost impossible).

Picasso was a self-promoter who stole the idea of cubism from Georges Braque and took full credit so he could sell more paintings at higher prices. What he did contribute to the art world is the fact that an artist can be a superstar and have a high profile and a household name. At one point while he was alive his name was the most recognized name in the world above political leaders, sports stars, movie stars, everyone. That shows you what a great job he did as self-promoter.

Picasso turned Art on it's head. He went backwards. If you look at paintings he did at the age of 14, he had skill to rival the old masters, like Raphael. It was a courageous step to put his technical skill behind him and take risks. He still became one of the most commercially successful artists. Pretty good going!
