Always remember that just because you may feel that its not art, and that it is unacceptable, does not mean everyone else will feel that way also.
I love nude paintings. they bring out the truth in humans.
But a LOT of people find those paintings disturbing.
Be open minded. and remember that your opinion is not the only one that matters

preparation-first impression-description-analysis-interpretation-gathering information-informed judgment. this also includes the viewers unique cultural perspective,associations with elements and images in work,knowledge of visual art in general. knowledge of a particular artist etc. thanx thatkat
