cara asked this question on the artcone forums: I saw The Pink Panther this weekend. It was a family outing, so we picked a movie most likely to be enjoyed by all. It was exactly what you would expect of The Pink Panther and Steve Martin. Jean Reno was the perfect straight man.
Movie Moms Review hated it because of the sexual innuendo(right over the head of my not-quite-ten-year-old) and it’s lack of redeeming social merit and a moral about goodness. They specifically did not like that anyone got hurt. Of course, Clouseau is surrounded by disaster that he is the cause of, but can’t see his connection to.
My son just about died laughing. The smoking crotch, the run-away globe of the earth that bowled down bicyclists all over Paris….
He also likes The Three Stooges. I wonder what Movie Moms Review would think of THAT!

Well, I’m going to say right now that the movie reinforces my thought that Hollywood sucks and is rapidly becoming suckier.
Seriously, Hollywood. We don’t need more remakes. Stop it.

I have never found Steve Martin to be that funny. I know I am in a seriously small minority but the likes of Airplane just didn’t cut it for me. Pink Panther I hesitate to watch as I just love the old movies with Peter Sellars in the main starring role as Inspector Clouseau.
