“Someone asked…. Has capitalism turned ART into a whore?”
compared to a restricted society where people can only create what their told to so therefore there is no variation or true feeling behind atr work…. no it has only inhanced it and let to a ecentricity among artists and buyers.
~Check your history on this one. Art has always been a “whore”, as have been artists since the first cave man got himself off of the hunting detail by scribbling on the cave wall. Without patrons then and consumers now, there would be no “art”.
Of course, the true creative writer, painter, composer then, as now, didn’t and doesn’t produce the product for commercial gain. Those who cater to the almighty dollar can hardly be called “artists” though they may be artisans – not to be confused with courtesans: although both do do pretty much the same thing.
When you are making art for money it is prostitution. When you are making art for yourself it is masturbation. When you are making art for someone else without getting paid for it, that is love.

And I mean that in all senses in the words.
