Sviri asked this question on the artcone forums: Hey there. I have a question.
I would like to make some of my work into prints for myself and for presents. But the problem is, i don’t know where these kind of services are possible and how much do they cost (A4 format for example, A3 maybe..).
Since I’m from Slovenia, Ljubljana, I hope to see some replies from Slovene Artworld users.
If anyone has any experience with this (I’m quite sure Lombi has), pls share the information.
Others are also more than welcome to reply!
Thanks in advance.

So you put your images on a CD, take them to a photo shop and they’ll print it for you? Do you know how long does it take them to print it?

Indeed you will get the best quality prints at a photo shop. There are several of those in Ljubljana where you can send the artwork via their programs like Mixi, Fotoplus, DigFoto, …
You can do both A4 and A3.

Thank you both.
Just another question, do you guys have any experiences with resizing smaller pictures and making them bigger…is there a lot of deformations and detail loss?
For example if a picture’s resolution is 800×600 pixels, if you stretch it to A3 is there a lot of detail loss?
(Those were example values since i am not familiar with the pixel to centimeters/milimeters ratios)
Maybe it would be better to talk about the problem in percentages?
Any experiences?

Pretty easy answer there, the image will suck even at A4. If scaled to A3 it will suck unbelievably. You need to keep the size in mind before you start making the piece next time.
800×600 is just not useable for anything else than displaying on the web.

Well actually the size of the picture is 2048×1364. Would that be enough for an A4 print?
Edit: Just came back from the photo shop, it came out great on A4.

Yes, that’s more than enough if the quality at that size is good. It all comes down to image quality at the original size

Sure. You make an action:
1. save for web (with all settings you want)
2. close
then you select the photos trough bridge in the directory of choice and go tools/photoshop/batch and choose the action you just saved.
All done
