I need to know who/what Picasso's inspirations were.

I know his father was one of his inspirations.
I did some research and it told me that his "lovers" SUPPOSEDLY inspired him..is that true.?

PLEAAASE....who inspired this man?
(i've been researching and googling it, but i find everything else EXCEPT the inspiration)

Thank u!

I've studied picasso EXTENSIVELY! My suggestion would be to hit the art section of your local library and take out a bunch of books on him. He's had many lovers and friends that have been a great influence to him.

This might help too:

here is a book about picasso's women:

It was probably one or several of the 1000 or so women he slept with.

If you want to take a break from the books, you can always watch Surviving Picasso (I think from 1996). It covers his relationship with Gilot but I think some of his other lovers appear as well. Its not that bad of a film.

In addition to his women, the death of his younger sister had a profound affect on Picasso. Some have interpreted the young girl in his version of Las Meninas as his younger sister. I can't remember the article that discussed this connection but you could find it by searching JSTOR. Furthermore, the Catalonian landscape influenced some of his works.

Money! Seriously, money was all he was after. Have you not come across his famous quote yet where he admits that money was his only motivation? I can't quote verbatum but he said he tried to paint what his patrons were gullible enough to buy and he certainly had the gift of gab to sell his work.
