I always wonder about this. Film is the classic way and it gives a softer look to pictures whilst digital is very precise. I love the fact that I can make instant decisions about digital pictures and not have to print out junk but there is something aesthetically pleasing about film.

Yes, that is the beauty of a digital camera in that you can delete pictures you are not happy with. In many ways though I feel digital photography is a little false. A photograph can easily be edited into something that it is not.
I also think that the pieces of art that we see are using film, are more down to the photographer's camera skills than ability to edit using a software package. |

I agree Brown Sugar but I meant what created the best original picture. Photographers used to use filters, different lenses and lighting to create a magnificent picture. I think that you can do the same with digital cameras as SLR digital cameras prove but I think that the medium of film has a little more romanticism.

i agree also with both comments, personally i have a film and a digital, i find digital far more tempting these days, one for the cheap costs and two because it appeals to my lazier side, imagine a world without digital, the digital age has brought about alot more photographers and i suppose at the end of the day the true artist, and professionals will shine through as in any artistic form.

Some very powerful words there, my friend. I totally agree with you on that part.
I am a digital-only person, stopped shooting film a long time ago, mostly because of the speed associated with digital as opposed to film developing times. One could argue with an extra thousand words, but here's a picture instead

I actually love both digital and print photography. But i feel as if digital wins in the long run. With digital you can delete pictures instantaneously and preview them with the touch of a button. However with film it just feels more.... "fulfilling" to me anyway, just my opinion.

I think that film still has that "certain" appeal that digital doesn't. I am all digital, but didn't get into photography until digital became popular, so I cannot speak from experience when it comes to film. I think that if I had been able to learn how too develop film on my own; I would have fallen in love with film. There is something a bit satisfying about developing and working with film. Digital is just SO much easier.

I agree with you entirely. I like the subtle look that film provides. But the ease of digital. I also like the fact that you can take more shots with digital as you do not have to change film. I think they both have their advantages and disadvantages.
