i watched a tutorial on i tunes from michelle jones, she mentioned she changed the colour of the palette windows from blue to silver but she didn’t say how to do it.

I believe thats actually done by changing your windows theme.
Try going to Control Panel>Display>Appearance
There’s all kind’s of settings in there that should do what you want.
