Stasha asked this question on the artcone forums: I’m trying to do research on fine art portrait paintings (like the Mona Lisa) and I’m having trouble locating sources.
Can anyone help? Thanks!

“Can anyone recommend websites for analysis and criticism of well known paintings?”
If you are in school, the library probably has access to JSTOR. You can search by topic for articles in various art history publications. Also, look at The Art Bulletin and Art Journal…they will have some articles about notable portraiture. If the library has access, the Bibliography on the History of Art (BHA) is a great database for sources. Hope this helps!

The best place to look up artists by name, title, or by style that I know of is …http://www.artcyclopedia.com/history/index.html
